btw absolute means making everything positive.
ReplyDeleteWhen you have an error, it means that you can have a range of measurements. The error must either be more or less than your measurement, right?
So it's called [insert measurement here] plus or minus [insert absolute error here]
In other words, the absolute error is half of the whole range of possible answers.
For example, if I ran 100m in 12 seconds with an absolute error of 1 second, it means that I ran some time between 11-13 seconds.
ie, I ran 100m in 12 plus or minus 1 seconds.
(btw, "plus or minus" is usually replaced with a plus sign on top of a minus sign. It's not on the keyboard so icbb finding it)
